Long before 10 o’clock, the hour set for the start of the parade, the sidewalks of both sides of Main Street were overcrowded with people, both local and visitors, many coming a long distance for the occasion. The usual stops were made by the parade after it left the village square, at the Mettowee river bridge, the World War I monument, World War II "honor roll" and the Mettowee Valley Cemetery G.A.R. mound.
